As the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Astoria I would like to welcome you to our Website.
We strive to provide a family atmosphere for spiritual encouragement and support. We provide well-rounded family-oriented ministries that will lift the hearts and minds of everyone, and to provide them a place to achieve spiritual growth and a sustained faith.
We have a Hispanic congregation, Iglesia Christiani Vida en Cristo, who meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the church basement for worship, fellowship and study.
Our church supports a community clothes closet for those in need of free clothes. We work with Clatsop Community Action and their voucher program to provide this ministry to the community. Please obtain a clothes voucher from CCA and come by the church Monday-Wednesday 10:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. and Wednesday and Thursday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
We have A.A. meetings each morning at 7:00 a.m. and other times during the week. Narcotics Anonymous meets three nights a week, and Heroin Anonymous meets one night a week. We have other groups using our building throughout the week.
Our church has outreach opportunities that are designed to reach our surrounding community with the love of Jesus Christ. This includes an annual street picnic on the last Sunday in September, and a Church basement sale in October. Each summer we work with four other churches in the community to provide a Vacation Bible School for children in late June.
It is exciting to see how God is working through First Baptist Church, a well-established church that has been a part of downtown Astoria for almost 100 years in its present location. Our prayer is to continue to “Grow with God” through worship, fellowship, love for one another and our community, and the reading of Scripture.
I invite you to join with us in this truly exciting adventure. You can be part of something that will change your life and the lives of the people around you.
